This weekend we ventured further than we have previously! We had Michael and Vicky to visit. Michael was on his way to a conference in Boston and arrived late on Thursday night, whilst Vicky came via a surprise visit (she does love surprising people!) to her dear friend Kate who has recently moved to Houston, a trade show in Orlando, meetings in Chicago and onto Peterborough on Friday night! On Friday, Simon was pleased to show Michael around Arrowsmith, introduce him to his teachers and some of his fellow students and show him what he is doing as part of the programme – I am really not sure either Michael or I would be able to do some of the exercises! His brain has hurt all weekend! Lucky it was a long weekend for Thanksgiving so a little more time to recover. Off we went on Saturday to the Farmers market followed by a drive to the Kawartha Lakes area, a great lunch and a spot of sightseeing, we especially loved the sunset over Lake Chemong. A long drive to Toronto on Sunday in the rain, after an hour we were almost back Peterborough, but the long drive was made worthwhile by a really delicious lunch, with an unusual menu by Ai Weiwei, at Frank’s at the Art Gallery of Ontario, no time though to see the David Bowie exhibition so I will have to go back for that! Dropping Michael and Vicky at the airport, Michael heading for Boston and Vicky for London, was sad but so lovely they could come and see where we are and have some fun with us. Simon and I managed to have a great day today – a holiday because of Thanksgiving, a long walk in Trent University wilderness reserve, lunch at the Silver bean café overlooking Little Lake and we were lucky enough to be invited on the last cruise of the season for the Lift Lock tour – the amazing lock that lifts boats over 65 feet to the canal above! And we didn’t even have any turkey for thanksgiving!
