Look! No hats!

Look! No hats!

It must be warmer, here we are, the Parents walking group, without hats! It’s been a long time with hat hair so it is a joy to be walking without a hat! And you might notice that we are not standing ON the river this week. If you look really carefully you can see that the river is not such a bright white, a sign that it is beginning to melt! So unsafe, in fact, that we didn’t go too close to the edge!
It was a beautiful walk this morning but walking the same track was much harder than last week as the snow is melting and then freezing at night making it quite slippery to walk on, certainly for the non-Canadians, we were slipping and sliding and going much more slowly and cautiously than the sure-footed Canadians!
Simon went out to the movies tonight with some of his fellow Arrowsmith students! They saw “300”. Simon said I should never go and see it! Too much blood – he described it as a bit Narnia like with lots of blood, the bloody scenes being in great detail! To quote Wikipedia “300 is a 2007 American fantasy action film based on the 1998 comic series of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. Both are fictionalized retellings of the Battle of Thermopylae within the Persian Wars”. He enjoyed it and I am sure that I wouldn’t!
I took the opportunity to watch the video “The Reef”, a present from fellow Aussies on returning to Peterborough after a trip home. I don’t think my Tim Tams were quite so exciting! The Reef is wonderful, a quintessentially Australian experience, created by Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, a musical interpretation, together with film, of surfing, the ocean, landscape and music. I so enjoyed it!
